I lost 140 lbs without going to the Gym!

Intro

My name is Richard W. Lightowler. I lost 140 pounds without going to the gym.  I gained weight due to the stress and time demands of being a C.E.O.   As a business executive, I often had to eat dinners with the group for up to nearly 4 hours.  Entire events were centralized around eating food.  I became addicted to sugar and caffeine.  I learned to vomit my meals after eating. And my researched proved that I was not the only one. People everywhere are addicted to sugar and caffeine.  Celebrities, chefs, doctors, newscasters or anyone who needs to look good has become bulimic.  Food has become he main attraction on the Las Vegas Strip and Time Square Manhattan.  Everywhere you look it's Pizza & Donuts, or a fancy variation, thereof.

​Depression, anxiety, bulimia, anorexia and other mental disorders can be attributed to sugar and caffeine 

I ate loads of sugar.  My friends called me the "candy man."  To stay thin, I would run triathlons.  When that stopped working, I began vominting my meals.  When that stopped working, I became suicidal.  I discovered that my depression, bulimia, and other physical and mental disorders were caused by consuming too much sugar and caffeine. Once I discovered secret to losing weight was a simple as not eating sugar or drinking caffeine.  

I stopped working to start working on my health; and it took 10 years.

​Even though President Obama declared a "War on Obesity" in 2010, 75% Americans were obese or overweight, before COVID. The number of states in which at least 35% of residents have obesity has nearly doubled since 2018, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC estimates hospitalizations would have been reduced by 30% during COVID people.

I took some time off work to learn about nutrition. However, I found out that losing weight was not as simple as going to the doctor, following a diet plan or reading a recipe book.  If that were the case, then people would be getting thinner, not fatter.

​Obesity rates continue to grow even though billions are being spent each year at trying to lose weight at health clubs and gyms.  


The fact is: no one knew how to lose weight except my wife.  The guidelines being set forth by the CDC are the same guidelines they've been telling people for 70 years.  The more people who subscribe to their idea of "health food" the more people get fat.  In fact, children are now becoming obese at an alarming rate. Celebrities who post pictures of their children can see how much fatter thy are than their bulmic mothers.  Moms are overfeeding their children because the moms are bulimic.  The dads are getting dfat while the women vonti their meal to stay thin.  this has been going on for generations.  It's time for ti to stop.  Mother's have forgotten how to teach their children to eat proper nutrition..

Today I weigh 168 pounds, my resting heart rate is 53 bpms, my BMI is 21.5 and my blood pressure is 116 / 73

The trend is not slowing

​The fat factor is not slowing.  In 2010, President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama declared a "War on Obesity".  They promised they would reduce obesity rates.  Obesity + overweight rates have increased from 68% in 2010 to 74% in 2017-18. In 2018, 74% of adults were overweight or obese. 16 states now have an adult obesity prevalence at or above 35%:

The CDC has not released the combined adult obesity statistics since COVID-19 shutdown, but I can only imagine the inactivity has resulted in obesity rates being higher than 42%.

Obesity takes it's toll during the pandemic

Racial and ethnic minority groups have historically not had broad opportunities for economic, physical, and emotional health, and these inequities have increased the risk of getting sick and dying from COVID-19 for some groups.  Many of these same factors are contributing to the higher level of obesity in some racial and ethnic minority groups. Adults with excess weight were at an even greater risk during the COVID-19 pandemic:
  • Having obesity increases the risk of severe illness from COVID-19. People who are overweight may also be at increased risk.
  • Having obesity may triple the risk of hospitalization due to a COVID-19 infection.
  • Obesity is linked to impaired immune function.
  • Obesity decreases lung capacity and reserve and can make ventilation more difficult.
  • A study of COVID-19 cases suggests that risks of hospitalization, intensive care unit admission, invasive mechanical ventilation, and death are higher with increasing BMI.
  • The increased risk for hospitalization or death was particularly pronounced in those under age 65. 
  • More than 900,000 adult COVID-19 hospitalizations occurred in the United States between the beginning of the pandemic and November 18, 2020.
  • Models estimate that 271,800 (30.2%) of these hospitalizations were attributed to obesity.
Hispanic and non-Hispanic Black adults have a higher prevalence of obesity and are more likely to suffer worse outcomes from COVID-19. 
Obesity is a common, serious, and costly chronic disease. Having obesity puts people at risk for many other serious chronic diseases and increases the risk of severe illness from COVID-19. Everyone has a role to play in turning the tide against obesity and its disproportionate impact on racial and ethnic minority groups.

I did my own research

I gave up listening to the experts.  If the President of the United States was unable to solve the obesity then this was a serious problem.   I knew that I had to do something different. I had to something that I never did before,  So that's what I did. 

I did my own research.  In fact, I got so frustrated listening to everyone's advice that I decided to move me and my wife off the grid so that I was not bombarded with daily advertisements, billboards, news articles and general misinformation about which foods are healthy. We moved outside the Clark County lines in the Ft. Apache Caves of Las Vegas.  We lived in a cave for three months.  She thought I was crazy.  Perhaps I was, but I needed to think clearly, free from distractions. Fortunately, she is a US Air Force combat vet who survived Survival School Training.  She taught me how to live off the grid. 

While living in the caves, ​I learned how the body metabolizes food. Metabolization is what converts fat into energy, I discovered that if I ate the eat the right foods, then I could eat as much of the right foods as I wanted without fat. I learned about catabolization.  That's the part of metabolism that breaks large molecules into smaller ones.  I learned that insulin inhibits catabolism and the reverse process happens; molecules bond together to make larger molecules.  In other words, when we eat anything that produces insulin, we get bigger, not smaller. Society drinks coffee everyday.  Caffeine produces insulin, as does anything with sugar.
It worked.  It really did. I documented the evidence.  And it cured for my wife's eating disorder too. But I kept asking, myself, "Could this work for other people?",

I started an anonymous Twitter handle to find out.  I tweeted before and after pictures to gain a couple followers.  Everyday I tweeted my breakfast, lunch and dinner to show people what I was eating.  People listened. Several of my followers reached out to me to thank me for sharing my knowledge about nutrition. People I had never met before were telling me how the were able to lose a substantial amount of weight simply by following my diet plan.  I decided to start a website called The Weight Loss Force™️  I thought, "People might find this information useful".

​I learned how to lose weight by researching publications.  I have a degree in Biology from Lewis and Clark College.  The biology professors at Lewis and Clark taught me how to conduct my own research instead of regurgitating other peoples research.  In order to do so, I had to keep a log of everything I ate for over a year.  I recorded my vital and body measurements daily. I lost 175 pounds! That's half my body weight!  And I reduced my blood pressure by 33 systolic points!  Not only do I feel great, but I have more energy, less anxiety and I'm wearing the same sized clothes I wore in high school.

Real Food Phase 1:
Cut out all artificial food. This includes flavors, colors and sweeteners. Only eat food that originally, came from nature. 

Food Recommendations:

Foods to avoid: avoid blending fruit and veggies. Keep food in whole form. Fruits and veggies are much better for the body when the fiber is intact. If the fruit and veggies are blended they turn into liquid sugar and are sent directly into the blood stream. 

Food in whole form has to be digested and broken down to sugar which burns calories and breaks down the sugar in the process. The body will receive less sugar from a non blended amount of food then the same amount of food blended. A blender turns the fruit and veggies to instant toxic sugar. 

Avoid any artificial anything including colorings, sweeteners and additives. Anything that is not the color of nature should not be consumed ever past this point. All food consumed will now be real food from nature. That means all candies are no longer allowed. No candy comes from nature. 

Try to avoid chocolate at this point. One can argue chocolate comes from nature. There is a coco plant in nature, but chocolate in any form that a person would consume now is not a coco leave. Things have been added and the plant has been processed to such a level that would be impossible to achieve in nature. 

Moving forward with this lifestyle, is now the time to realize that the goal is to eat only food that can be found in nature. Food that requires machines and hours upon days upon years to prepare is not what this lifestyle is about. This lifestyle is basically how to survive in the wild with what is available in nature.
